The Lexus LC 500 Convertible is a rear-wheel drive full-size premium convertible that embodies (at least in the words of the Japanese automaker itself) "exceptional Japanese aesthetics with incredibly sensual, incomparable driving emotions" ... The main target audience for two-doors is very wealthy people (regardless of gender) who like to "stand out from the crowd", demonstrating their financial success ...

The world debut of the serial Lexus LC 500 with the Convertible prefix took place on November 20, 2019 on the catwalks of the International Los Angeles Auto Show, while for the first time the car appeared in front of the general public back in January of the same year at the North American Motor Show in Detroit (but then only in conceptual status).

This is the first traditional convertible with a soft top in the history of the Japanese automaker (before, all the few open Lexus's were exclusively coupe-convertibles with a hard folding roof), in general repeating the standard coupe in terms of design and technical part.

Outside, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible looks no worse than a closed two-door - it attracts attention with an expressive, daring, sporty fit and really beautiful appearance, “saturated” with bright design solutions, the soft convertible top will add even more elegance to it.

By the way, the convertible "sports" a four-layer roof (black or beige), folding and unfolding in 15 and 16 seconds, respectively, at speeds up to 50 km / h.

Dimensions and weight

The overall length of the car is 4760 mm, width - 1920 mm, height - 1350 mm. The distance between the wheelsets at the two-door is 2870 mm, and its ground clearance is 133 mm.

When loaded, the "Japanese" weighs at least 2045 kg.

Interior

Inside, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible as a whole repeats the standard coupe - chic design, thoughtful ergonomics, high-class performance, exclusively premium finishing materials, as well as a 2 + 2 seating formula with sports bucket seats in the front and a frankly nominal rear row.

Specifications

Under the hood of the Lexus LC 500 premium cabriolet is a 5.0 liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a V-configuration, combined fuel injection, 32-valve timing and variable valve timing, producing 477 horsepower at 7100 rpm and 540 Nm of torque moment at 4800 rpm.

By default, the engine is mated to a 10-range Aisin automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters, through which all potential is sent to the drive wheels of the rear axle.

Design features

Structurally, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible differs little from the standard coupe, except perhaps only reinforced with additional body and underbody elements.

Otherwise - parity: rear-wheel drive platform GA-L with a longitudinally located motor; steel body with composite floor and aluminum outer panels; independent front double wishbone and rear multi-link with adaptive shock absorbers; rack and pinion steering gear with electric power steering; powerful braking system with ventilated discs "in a circle".

Options and prices

In the US, sales of the Lexus LC 500 Convertible will start in the summer of 2020, closer to that moment, and trim levels with prices will be announced (it is obvious that the convertible will be more expensive than the coupe, which means that its base price tag will exceed $ 100,000).

The first to hit the market will be a limited edition (limited to one hundred units) called Inspiration Series. It is not reported whether the premium convertible will appear on the Russian market.
