Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is a “charged” mid-size “premium” SUV developed by the sports division of “Street & Racing Technology”, which is positioned as “the most affordable sports SUV on the Russian market” ... This car is addressed to wealthy people who want to show their special status and loving high speed ...

The world premiere of the high-performance SUV with the prefix "SRT8" in the name (in-plant marking "WK2") took place in April 2011 at the International New York Auto Show, and soon after that it was launched into series production.

In January 2013, the five-door underwent the first update - the design and interior architecture were slightly tweaked, new equipment was added, the 5-speed automatic was replaced with an 8-range one, and the figure eight was removed from the designation.

Another restyling happened to the car at the beginning of 2017, but this time the Americans limited themselves to only minor modifications to the exterior, interior decoration and functionality.

Outside, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT can be recognized against the background of the "civilian" model by an aggressive aerodynamic body kit around the body, a hood with a protruding hump in the middle and ventilation "nostrils", as well as 20-inch rims of the original design. Such surroundings made the look of the SUV even more attractive and brutal.

The SRT version of the Grand Cherokee is 4846 mm long, 1954 mm wide, and 1749 mm high. The wheelbase extends at 2914 mm at the five-door, and its ground clearance is 203 mm.

The curb weight of the car is 2,191 kg, and its gross weight is only slightly below 3 tons.

Inside the "charged" essence of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is given by the trimmed down chord steering wheel with raised tides, metal pedal pads, carbon fiber in the dash trim and sports front seats with developed lateral and lower support.

Otherwise, it is exactly the same beautiful and respectable salon as that of a standard "brother", distinguished by high-quality finishing and a large supply of free space.

In terms of practicality, the high-performance SUV does not differ from the simple "Grand Cherokee" of the fourth generation - it boasts a trunk volume from 457 to 1554 liters (depending on the position of the rear sofa) with a full-size "spare" in the underground.

The main "highlight" of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is a 6.4-liter Hemi eight-cylinder petrol "aspirated" loads. It generates 468 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 642 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm.

Nominally, the SUV is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a Quadra-Trac I all-wheel drive system (without a lowering row in the transfer case) with active thrust distribution along the axles. Under standard conditions, the entire power reserve goes to the rear axle, but if necessary, up to 50% of the traction is directed to the front wheels.

The mid-size SUV has impressive "driving" capabilities: from a standstill to 100 km / h, it "shoots" in 5 seconds, and continues to accelerate until it reaches 257 km / h.

In the combined mode "American" consumes at least 14.1 liters of fuel for every "hundred".

From a constructive point of view, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is not much different from its "civilian brother" - the Mercedes-Benz M-class platform (in the "W164" body) at the base, independent front double-lever and rear multi-link, as well as a steering complex with hydraulic booster and variable gear ratio.

As for the features of the car, they include: an adaptive chassis with five modes of operation and ventilated disc brakes Brembo with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers (diameter "pancakes" - 381 mm and 350 mm, respectively).

In Russia, the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is offered at a price of 5,200,000 rubles.

In the "base" the SUV has: seven airbags, 20-inch wheels, a multimedia complex, a high-class audio system with 19 speakers and a subwoofer, a two-zone "climate", ABS, ESP, EBD, heating, ventilation and electrically adjustable front seats, a rear camera review and a bunch of other modern "goodies".
