The second generation of the flagship sedan Audi A8 with the factory index "D3" celebrated its official premiere in July 2002, and a month later it reached the conveyor production.

In 2007, the car was affected by a planned modernization, as a result of which the exterior and interior were corrected, and the list of equipment was replenished with previously unavailable options.

The "German" was produced until 2009, after which its successor appeared.

The second generation Audi A8 is a full-size premium sedan available in standard or extended wheelbase versions.

The base car is 5062 mm long, 1894 mm wide and 1444 mm high. The stretched version is 130 mm longer and 11 mm higher. The distance between the axles of the three-volume is 2944 and 3074 mm, respectively. The curb weight of this Audi A8 ranges from 1,670 to 1,990 kg, depending on the version.

Specifications. The 2nd generation car was equipped with high-performance petrol engines:

  • V-shaped "sixes" and "eights" with a volume of 2.8-4.2 liters, issuing from 210 to 350 horsepower and from 280 to 440 Nm of torque.
  • The role of the "top" version was performed by a 6.0-liter "aspirated" W12 with a capacity of 450 "horses", the return of which reaches 580 Nm of thrust.
  • Installed on the car and turbocharged diesel engines V6 and V8 3.0-4.1 liters, producing 233-326 horsepower and 450-650 Nm of maximum potential.

In tandem, a 6-band "automatic" or a continuously variable variator, front-wheel drive or a proprietary quattro transmission with four drive wheels were assigned to the engines.

At the heart of the "second" Audi A8 is the architecture of the Volkswagen Group D3 with an independent multi-link suspension with pneumatic elements at the front and rear. Aluminum alloys are widely used in the design of the car. The steering on the executive sedan is with hydraulic booster, the brakes are ventilated disc brakes on each of the four wheels with ABS and ESP.

In 2018, the second generation of this three-volume box is offered in Russia on the secondary market at a price of 500 ~ 900 thousand rubles (depending on the equipment and condition of a particular machine).

The positive features of the second generation G8 are: presentable appearance, luxurious interior, rich set of equipment, high-performance engines, excellent dynamics, high level of comfort and comfortable suspension.

Negative qualities: high cost of spare parts, expensive maintenance and high fuel "appetite".
