At a special event in Sweden on September 16, 2016, Volvo unveiled the fourth and final model in the second generation of its "ninetieth" family - an all-terrain variation of the V90 estate, which received the "Cross Country" prefix in its name.

The five-door car, according to the Swedes, is prepared for the most extreme situations that can arise on the way, and it will be able to cope with them thanks to all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance, reconfigured suspension and other nuances.

The exterior of the Volvo V90 Cross Country was borrowed from the standard "brother", which makes it look attractive and elegant, and its off-road qualities are emphasized by a plastic body kit around the body perimeter, a solid clearance under the "belly" and large "rollers" of the original design.

The "raised" station wagon is 4939 mm long, and its height and width are 1543 mm and 1879 mm, respectively. The wheelbase of the five-door is located within 2941 mm, and its ground clearance does not exceed 210 mm. In "stowed" form, the machine weighs from 1920 to 1966 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the Volvo V90 Cross Country is exactly the same as that of a regular model - inside the station wagon, a spectacular design, exceptionally expensive materials and a high-class level of workmanship harmoniously coexist.

The car is capable of taking on board five adult riders, and its cargo compartment is designed to carry from 913 to 1526 liters of luggage (it all depends on the position of the backs of the rear sofa).

Specifications. Two gasoline and two diesel engines of the Drive-E series are allocated for the cargo-and-passenger "off-road vehicle", which are installed in a joint with an 8-band "automatic" and an all-wheel drive transmission (for the "junior" diesel engine, a 6-speed "mechanics" is also provided).

  • The petrol range unites 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines equipped with two turbochargers, 16 valves and direct injection, the output of which is 254 and 320 horsepower (350 and 400 Nm of peak potential, respectively).
  • The diesel "team" consists of 2.0-liter "fours" with bi-turbocharging and Common Rail, generating 190-235 "stallions" and 400-480 Nm of torque.

The all-wheel drive system on the Volvo V90 Cross Country is based on the fifth generation BorgWarner multi-plate clutch, which, under normal conditions, supplies traction to the front wheels, and, if necessary, transfers up to half of the moment to the rear axle.

The station wagon overcomes the starting "race" up to 100 km / h in 6.3-8.8 seconds, depending on the version, and the set speed ends when it reaches 210-240 km / h.

Gasoline cars "destroy" 7.4-7.7 liters of fuel per mixed "hundred", and diesel - 5.1-5.3 liters.

As for the "all-terrain potential", the angles of exit and entry from the "Swede" are declared at the level of 20.7 and 18.9 degrees, respectively.

Technically, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is not much different from the usual V90: the "SUV" is based on the SPA platform with a double-wishbone front and multi-link rear (with a transverse spring) chassis design (albeit with unique settings).
Optionally, the car can be equipped with air suspension at the rear, which in turn is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers for an additional charge.
Nominally, the station wagon “flaunts” an electro-hydraulic power steering, disc “pancakes” on all wheels and a bunch of electronic “gadgets”.

Options and prices. In 2017, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is supplied to the Russian market in two petrol (T5 and T6) and two diesel versions (D4 and D5), each of which is provided in several equipment levels - "Plus" and "Pro".

For station wagons in diesel solutions D4 and D5, you will have to pay a minimum of 3,306,000 and 3,438,000 rubles, respectively, and for the most powerful version of the T6, dealers ask from 3,678,000 rubles (for the "Pro" package, in all cases, an additional 218 thousand rubles will be required) ...
