Mitsubishi ASX is a front- or all-wheel drive SUV of the compact segment and a "global product" of the Japanese automaker ... Its main target audience is residents of large cities who love outdoor activities, but do not abuse out-of-town trips, who value high quality, safety and a good level of comfort ...

At the Los Angeles automobile show (in November 2015) the official debut of the Mitsubishi ASX compact crossover in an updated guise took place (but there it was presented under the name "Outlander Sport" - that is how it is called in the USA).

The Japanese achieved "noticeable" improvements "with little blood" - the car was reshaped the front part, fitting it to the new style of the brand, slightly retouched the interior and added previously unavailable "chips", leaving the technical part unattended.

After the update, the Mitsubishi ASX noticeably changed in appearance and began to look more mature and assertive, and all thanks to the X-style front end with an angry look of lighting technology, a radiator grille shield and chrome zigzags.

Although the SUV is good from other angles - lean sides with large wheel arches that can accommodate disks up to 18 inches, and a dashing tailgate with aggressive lanterns and a sculpted bumper.

The overall dimensions of the Japanese crossover after restyling remained unchanged: 4295 mm in length, 1770 mm in width and 1625 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2670 mm. The bottom of the car is separated from the road surface by 195 mm clearance.

Interior

As a result of the interior renovation, Mitsubishi ASX received scanty innovations - a different multifunctional steering wheel, a 6.1-inch screen of a multimedia complex and better finishing materials.

The decoration of the "Japanese" is tailored in a modern and laconic style with a "steering wheel" topped with control elements, two "wells" of the instrument cluster and a neat console in the center that houses the multimedia and "climate" blocks, as well as several additional buttons.

By its nature, the "ASX" of the 2016-2019 model year is five-seater, but its rear sofa (as well as on the "pre-reform" car) does not spoil passengers with roominess.

The volume of the luggage compartment, depending on the position of the back of the "gallery", varies from 384 to 1219 liters (taking into account the compact spare wheel in the niche under the raised floor).

Specifications

In the Russian market for the crossover, two gasoline four-cylinder "aspirated" are declared that meet the environmental requirements of "Euro-5", with a 16-valve timing belt of the DOHC type (two overhead camshafts), distributed fuel injection and MIVEC electronic timing control technology:

  • The first option is a 1.6-liter engine producing 117 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 154 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm.
  • The second is a 2.0-liter unit that develops 150 hp. at 6000 rpm and 197 N • m of torque at 4200 rpm.

The "junior" engine mates with a 5-speed "mechanics" and front-wheel drive transmission, while the "senior" relies on a continuously variable variator and four-wheel drive with a multi-plate clutch that connects, if necessary, the wheels of the rear axle.

From a place to the first "hundred" the car accelerates after 11.4-11.7 seconds, and its maximum capabilities do not exceed 183-191 km / h.

In combined conditions, the five-door "destroys" from 6.1 to 7.7 liters of fuel, depending on the modification, for every 100 km of run.

At the heart of the Mitsubishi ASX 2016-2019 model year is the "GS" platform with classic McPherson struts on the front and a multi-link structure on the rear axle.

As standard, the car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering gear, in which an electric power amplifier is integrated, and disc brakes on all wheels (front with ventilation), supplemented by ABS with EBD.

Options and prices

In the Russian market in 2017, the "restyled" Mitsubishi ASX was offered in four solutions - "Inform", "Invite", "Intense" and "Instyle". The minimum price for a "1.8-liter crossover" was 1,099,000 rubles; for the version with a 2.0-liter engine, it was necessary to pay from 1,339,990 rubles; and “full stuffing” cost from 1,479,990 rubles.

  • In the "base", the crossover boasts: two airbags, air conditioning, audio preparation with four speakers, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, steel wheels, electric and heated side mirrors, four power windows and some other equipment.
  • The most "sophisticated" car has: seven airbags, leather trim, dual-zone "climate", 17-inch wheels, ESP, a radio with six columns, an assistance system when starting up the hill, light and rain sensors, electric drive and heated front seats, "Cruise" and a bunch of other "gadgets".
