The fourth-generation Renault Clio subcompact model was shown at Renault's home to the Paris Motor Show in September 2012.

The French did not stint with the premiere demonstration and rolled out on the podium two "civilian" novelties at once: the five-door Renault Clio hatchback and the Renault Clio Estate station wagon (but the "hot R.S. hatchback" is a separate topic for conversation).

In mid-June 2016, the car underwent a planned update, which was limited to "little bloodshed" - it slightly corrected the exterior, changing the bumper, grille and optics, made minor adjustments to the interior (changing the decor of the front panel and improving the quality of the finish), and so the list of available equipment was expanded ... but the technical "filling" remained the same.

Regardless of the body type, the "fourth Clio" looks fresh and bright, and to decorate it, various options for external trim moldings, radiator grilles, mirror housings, as well as graphic drawings on the roof are offered.

A pompous "face" with sophisticated optics, a branded radiator grille and a "puffy" bumper, a balanced and energetic silhouette with elegant mirrors on legs, contoured "hips" and a sloping roof, frying stern with sophisticated lanterns and a raised bumper - the exterior of the five-door catches the eye, from whatever angle you look.

The dimensions of the Renault Clio hatchback (and station wagon) in the fourth generation are as follows: body length - 4062 mm (4262 mm), width - 1732 mm, height - 1448 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2589 mm, and its ground clearance does not exceed 120 mm.

The curb weight of the "Frenchman" varies from 980 to 1071 kg (depending on the modification).

The interior of "Clio" of the fourth generation pleases the eye with a beautiful, modern and fashionable design, in which the play of the designers' imagination is immediately visible.

The most interesting inside the five-door is the dashboard with two "wells" interconnected by an oval of a digital speedometer, and a kind of air conditioning unit, but the three-spoke multi-steering wheel, made in a sporty manner, and the 7-inch screen of the multimedia complex do not stand out from the overall picture. decorating the center console.

In addition, the car boasts well-thought-out ergonomics, high-quality finishing materials and high-quality assembly.

Regardless of the bodywork, the interior of the car is designed to accommodate five people, although the back row, traditionally for the "players" of the B-class, cannot be called spacious. As for the front riders, they are assigned to comfortable seats with well-developed lateral support, moderately hard filling and sufficient adjustment ranges.

The luggage compartment of the 4th generation Clio hatchback is designed to carry 300 liters of cargo, and the station wagon has a cargo compartment of 430 liters - the volume can be significantly increased by folding the second row seats.

A wide range of power plants is offered for the five-door:

  • The gasoline part consists of in-line three- and four-cylinder engines with a working volume of 0.9-1.2 liters with turbocharging, distributed fuel injection and variable valve timing, which generate 90-120 horsepower and 140-205 Nm of torque.
  • Diesel modifications contain under the hood a 1.5-liter "four" with a vertical layout, a turbocharger, an 8-valve timing and a Common Rail injection system, available in three boost options:
    • 75 h.p. at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak thrust at 1750 rpm;
    • 90 horsepower and 220 Nm of available recoil at identical revs;
    • 110 h.p. at 4000 rpm and 260 Nm of torque at 1500 rpm.

The engines are installed in conjunction with a 5- or 6-speed "mechanics" or 6-band "robot", which send all the power to the front wheels.

The first "hundred" car conquers after 9-14.5 seconds, and the maximum accelerates to 167-199 km / h.

Petrol versions of the five-door consume 4.2 ~ 5.6 liters of fuel in combined mode, and diesel versions consume 3.2 ~ 3.5 liters.

At the heart of the "fourth" Renault Clio is the front-wheel drive "B platform" with a transversely placed power plant and extensive use of steel in the body structure.

The suspension of this car is built according to the following scheme: front - "independent spring", and rear - "semi-independent torsion bar".

On all versions, the base is equipped with an electric power steering, as well as disc front (with ventilation) and drum rear brakes, supplemented by ABS, EBS and other modern "chips".

In the Russian market, the fourth-generation Renault Clio is not officially sold, but in the countries of the Old World it is in great demand: for example, in France they ask for a minimum of 14,100 euros for a hatchback (~ 969 thousand rubles at the rate at the end of 2017), and for a station wagon - 14 700 euros (~ 1.011 million rubles).

In the basic configuration, the car has: front airbags, 15-inch wheels, ABS, ESP, power windows for all doors, air conditioning, heated front seats, an audio system and other "gadgets".
