KIA XCeed is a front-wheel drive C-class cross-hatchback according to the European classification (although the company itself positions it as an urban crossover, that is, CUV), combining the practicality of representatives of the SUV segment and the layout with handling, which is inherent in hatchbacks ... This car is addressed, first of all, to city dwellers who are not used to limiting themselves to some kind of strict framework, but at the same time not needing, for example, an all-wheel drive transmission ...

The "raised" KIA XCeed hatchback, created in the European design center of the South Korean brand in Frankfurt am Main under the leadership of the local vice president of design Gregory Guillaume, was first presented to the world community on June 26, 2019, at one of the special events ... but only a year later he reached the Russian market.

At the same time, the five-door, which became the “final touch” in the wide range of the Ceed family and occupied a niche one step below the Sportage crossover, turned out to be so original (at least externally) that it has only front doors in common with a conventional hatchback.

Exterior

Outside, the KIA XCeed boasts a modern, attractive and stylish look, and the "armor" made of unpainted plastic adds to it not only a bit of solidity, but also a bit of emotion.

An expressive front end with "compound" headlights, a branded radiator grille and a raised bumper, a dynamic silhouette with a long hood, heavily heaped roof pillars, expressive sidewalls and large stripes of wheel arches, a tightened stern with graceful lanterns and a powerful bumper with a pair of trapezoidal exhaust pipes pseudo-crossover there are simply no conflicting decisions, and in the city traffic it will definitely attract attention.

The length of the KIA XCeed is 4395 mm, of which 2650 mm is the distance between the wheelsets of the front and rear axles, the width does not exceed 1826 mm, and the height reaches 1483 mm. The ground clearance of the car on 16-inch wheels is 174 mm, and on 18-inch "rollers" it increases by 10 mm.

Interior

Inside, the cross-hatchback is tailored according to European patterns - a three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a relief structure, a fully virtual instrument cluster with a widescreen 12.3-inch display, a laconic center console with a protruding 10.25-inch media center touchscreen and stylish audio and climate control units.

True, in simple configurations the car has an analogue "toolkit" with a monochrome screen with a diagonal of 3.8 inches or a 4.2-inch color TFT display, as well as a smaller central monitor.

Salon KIA XCeed has a five-seater layout, and a sufficient supply of space here is promised by the inhabitants of both rows of seats. In the front part there are chairs with an ergonomic profile, well-developed lateral support and wide adjustment ranges, and in the back there is a well-profiled sofa with a folding armrest in the center.

In the normal state, the trunk of the "raised" hatch can hold up to 426 liters of luggage (according to the VDA method).

The second row of seats folds down in three sections in a 40:20:40 ratio, which increases the storage compartment to 1,378 liters. In addition, an electric drive of the fifth door is offered for the five-door.

Specifications

For the KIA XCeed, a wide range of turbocharged direct injection engines is provided, combined exclusively with a front-wheel drive transmission:

  • By default, the car is equipped with a 1.0-liter T-GDi in-line gasoline "three" with a 12-valve timing and variable valve timing, generating 120 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 1500-4000 rpm.
  • It is followed in the hierarchy by a petrol 1.4-liter T-GDi unit with four "pots", a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, which produces 140 hp. at 6000 rpm and 242 Nm of peak thrust at 1500-3200 rpm.
  • The "top" GT-modification relies on the 1.6-liter T-GDi four with an in-line arrangement, 16 valves and a variable valve timing system, the potential of which is 204 hp. at 6000 rpm and 265 Nm at 1500-4500 rpm.
  • Under the hood of the diesel versions, there is a four-cylinder CRDi engine with a working volume of 1.6 liters, available in two power options:
    • 115 h.p. at 4000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1500-2750 rpm;
    • 136 h.p. at 4000 rpm and 280 Nm of maximum recoil at 1500-3000 rpm.

The initial gasoline engine comes with only a 6-speed "mechanics", "friendly" by default and with all other engines, which are also combined with the optional 7-band "robot" with two clutches.

Design features

At the heart of the KIA XCeed is the "K2" front-wheel drive architecture with a transverse motor and extensive use of high-strength grades of steel in the monocoque structure.

"In a circle" the car is equipped with independent suspensions: in front - MacPherson type with shock absorbers with built-in hydraulic rebound buffers; behind - a multi-link system. The standard five-door has an electric power steering and ventilated disc brakes on all wheels.

Options and prices

In the Russian market, the 2020 Kia Xceed is offered only with T-GDi petrol engines with a working volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters, combined with a 7-band "robot", but in four trim levels to choose from - Luxe, Prestige, Premium and Premium + (and what noteworthy, the 1.6-liter unit is available only for the Premium version, and for everyone else - only the 1.4-liter).

A cross-hatchback in the initial version costs from 1,499,900 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes: six airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, ABS, ESP, a media system with an 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, a light sensor, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, cruise control, heated front seats and a steering wheel, a rear-view camera, a six-speaker audio system and some other "bells and whistles".

For a car in the Prestige configuration, you will have to pay at least 1,669,900 rubles, for the Premium option, dealers ask from 2,039,900 rubles, and the Premium + modification will cost from 1,929,900 rubles.

The "top" five-door boasts: a media center with a 10.25-inch screen, virtual "instrumentation", a car park, a rain sensor, heated windshield and rear seats, premium "music" JBL, adaptive "cruise", an electric sunroof, an electromechanical parking brake, electric drive of the fifth door and other modern functions.
